Logic is provided in a processor controlled typewriter to permit an operator to select a mode, by depressing a first special key combination at a keyboard 1, that causes a series of typewriter operations to be prompted at a printer 2. The special code produced by the key combination is accessed at interface 6 by a processor 3 that processes signals according to instructions stored in a read-only storage (ROS) 4. In response to the special code, a logic routine is initiated that includes a set of teaching sequences.
