Fig. 1 shows a storage address generated in an address adder. The address consists typically of a virtual 4K-byte page address (bits 1-19), a line address (bits 20-24 for a 128-byte line), and a double-word address (bits 25-28). The virtual page address is translated to a real page address by a DLAT (Directory Look-Aside Table) that may consist of two or more subtables operating in parallel for increased efficiency.
