The transducer receiver can be configured into any desired shape and
is well matched acoustically with water.
The transducer-receiver is a rubber sheet which is bonded to a PVF(2) film.
The rubber sheet acts as the transducer. The rubber sheet is activated by a high
intensity laser, which can be scanned across the surface so as to provide a local
source of acoustic waves as a function of the position. Details are defined
The PVF film serves as the receiver and generates a voltage
which is a function of the strain which it experiences on receiving
reflected acoustic waves. The relative low cost as well as its
availability in various sizes makes it possible to configure the
above-described device at will.
