Abstract

The copy register (CR) stages shown in the figure are part of the timing hierarchy of a copier control. This timing is used to control and monitor the sequence of operations of the copier stations in producing copies of original documents. The CR stages are also used to monitor the passage of paper through the paper transport mechanism of the copier. The bits are moved from one stage to another in step with the progress of a copy page from one given point in the transport path to another. At some of the stations, the presence of the paper is sensed by a switch or photoelectric device, the output signal of which is compared to the state of the associated copy register.
