Multiple Function, Integral Motor/ Blower Assembly
A single, integral assembly of multiple blowers and ducting elements is
powered from a common source to provide multiple air flow requirements.
Machine frame 10 has inlet duct 11 attached thereto to form an air flow
channel between openings 12 and 13. Housing 15 snaps over opening 13 and
internally receives centrifugal blower rotor 16 so as to provide downward flow
from opening 18 when rotor 16 is turning.
Bushing 20 seals the inward side of the blower chamber formed by housing
15 and mounts shaft 25 via bearing 26 so that it extends into housing 15 to
position and drive impeller 16. Transverse flow rotor 30 fits within housing 31
which is hinged at 32 to allow molding the protective grill 33 as a unit. Hinge 32
likewise facilitates assembly of impeller 30 on shaft 25 within housing 31.
Bushing 38 attaches to the end of housing 31, and a motor (not shown) is
ultimately attached via grommet 40 coaxially located on the end of transverse
impeller 30. That is, after the elements shown are joined together, mounting
bushing 38 is slid onto the motor end bell housing so that grommet 40,
transverse impeller 30 and rotor 16 are all driven by the motor. Both mounting
bushing 38 and corona air housing 15 serve to hold the assembly together.
