This system involves a plurality of units each of which could be mounted on an existing utility pole. The system comprises a microprocessor, a speech synthesizer and various means to measure wind direction and velocity, relative humidity, temperature, cloud cover, fog, rain, etc. The system is accessed by dialing an assigned phone number. The weather conditions are converted to digital data and, in turn, converted by the speech synthesizer into a voice answer-back message. The message could include previous, as well as current, weather information.
