Variable Magnetic Brush Bias Control with Provisions for Toner
This circuit allows variable operator control of copy darkness for a
convenience copier with automatic toner concentration checking and control.
Potentiometer 10 is operator adjusted for a full range of light to dark copies.
The voltage network 11 of resistors 12 and 14 establishes a standby level of
V(out) to the copier magnetic brush bias supply. During the copy producing
process, the COPY input to semiconductor 15 is activated so that potentiometer
10 and resistor 16 are paralleled with network 11 thereby allowing the operator to
select the proportionate level by bias V(out). During this time, the CK CONC
input is deactivated.
The conventional "patch" method of toner concentration checking is
employed under control of semiconductor 20. During a toner concentration
check, the level of V(out) is controlled by activating the CK CONC input while the
COPY input is deactivated. Potentiometer 22 is preset to provide the correct
magnetic brush bias V(out) for toner concentration checking through the gating of
potentiometer 22 and resistor 24 in parallel with network 11 independent of the
setting of 10.
