As shown above, a wedge lock assembly consists of an upper lock 10, a lower lock 11, wedge segments 12, 15 and 20, clamping screw 13 and bowed retaining ring 14. The center wedge segment 15 is fixed to plate 16 by a location screw 17. Opposite plate 18 is centered by pin 19 in plate 18 which goes into hole 21 of the center wedge segment 15. A clearance between locating pin 19 and hole 21 allows plates 16 and 18 to separate while restricting their relative motion along the other principal axes. Clamping screw 13 has a flange 22 between the upper lock 10 and wedge segments 12. Clamping screw 13 extends through central openings in all wedge segments 12, 15, 20, and is threaded at its lower end into the lower lock 11.
