Abstract

Conventional feedback control of open collector and push-pull drivers is provided by building a MOS (metal oxide semiconductor) capacitor (Figs. 1 and 2). Equivalent feedback control can be achieved by implementing "back to back" diodes (Fig. 3) where each "back to back" diode is obtained by shorting the collector (C) to the emitter (E) using the C-E short as one terminal and the base as the other. For a given capacitor value the "back to back" diode technique requires only one-fifth of the area required by the MOS capacitor.
