High Data Integrity Scheme for Memory Reliability

Random soft failures and intermittent errors in data memory are eliminated before they can accumulate into uncorrectable errors by the use of a high speed buffer. The data is routinely extracted from memory and put into the buffer during the idle time of the memory. Once in the buffer, the extracted data is checked and, if error is found, corrected by an error corrector (ECC) and placed back into memory.
