An equivalent circuit model of bipolar transistors has been devised where
equivalent circuit model elements are functions of two independent variables.
Bipolar transistors are represented by an equivalent circuit model containing
resistors, capacitors, current sources, etc., for circuit analysis. Heretofore, these
circuit elements were either constant or functions of one independent variable
(emitter-base junction bias voltage). Operation of bipolar transistors in a real
circuit environment, however, is governed by two independent variables: emitter-
base bias voltage and base-collector junction bias voltage. Accordingly, the
results obtained from a device simulation program such as the present one,
wherein equivalent circuit model elements are functions of two independent
variables, can be directly entered into circuit design programs without further
