We have synthesized the complex bis[4-(n-butyl)-styryl dithiolato] platinum and found it to be stable up to at least 201.5 degrees C, where it melts to an isotropic liquid. It undergoes a transition to a nematic phase at 156.5 degrees C, and it absorbs strongly in the infrared (IR).
