Abstract

Magnetic media is generally burnished on a substrate holder, such as a vacuum chuck, driven by a spindle. The spindle 1 is friction driven by a wheel 2 that is keyed to the spindle in relation to an orientation pin 3 in the substrate holder. The orientation pin 3 locates the media orientation. A scallop 4 is machined into the wheel 2 in relationship to the keyway in the spindle 1 and the orientation pin. The latch assembly itself includes a lever 5 pivoted onto a block 8 with rollers 6 and 7 journaled on each end. An overcenter spring 9 holds the roller 6 in the scallop 4.
