Most computer terminals are of the VDU (visual display unit) type capable of displaying up to 4000 characters of information. When testing computer terminal systems or subsystems using such VDU terminals, it is often required to have test cases which are complete descriptions of the message transactions occurring between a VDU terminal and its controller for various test scenarios. These test cases may then be used together with an automated test tool to rapidly ensure that the system under test behaves correctly under all conditions.
