Manufacture of Air Bearing Magnetic Head Sliders

A process for polishing a multiplicity of air bearing magnetic head sliders and concurrently controlling throat height of the magnetic heads to very close tolerances employs a magnetic transducer 1 at each end and center of a group of aligned magnetic elements 2, mounted to a linear bar or part 3 (Fig. 1). The bars may be bonded to a transfer tool 4 and inserted into a holder 5, and electrical continuity maintained by spring contacts 6 (Fig. 2). Electrical connections to terminals 7 are provided.
