The print head structure illustrated in Fig. 1 comprises a silicon substrate 2 which has V grooves 4, 6 and 8 etched therein, with the mesas 10, 12, 16 and 18 between adjacent grooves serving as print head elements, and with a dielectric layer 20, such as silicon dioxide, being formed on at least the surface of the mesa. The print element 22, on the surface of each mesa, is comprised of Pd(2) Si/Pd, and the bottom surface of the substrate 2 is also coated with a layer 24 of Pd(2) Si/Pd.
