Variable Frequency, Amplitude and Offset Bi-Directional Signal Source

This article teaches that through the application of a signal to the external base/emitter input of a curve tracer, a wide range linear control of frequency and amplitude can be achieved and can be used to replace the limited internal step function generator usually employed. This applied signal can be adjusted to any desired positive or negative amplitude, offset, and frequency on the control gate or drain. This is particularly useful for erasable ROM (read-only memory) and erasable programmable ROM writing and erasing. It also enables the user to display a desired region of interest on the device being characterized.
