Abstract

For generating a temperature proportional voltage, the saturation voltage of a bipolar transistor is used. The saturation voltage as derived from the Ebers Moll equation is: V(CESAT) = k . T over q 1n /1 + 1 over Beta(I) (1+/I/(C) over I(B) over 1 - 1 over Beta (N) /I/(C) over I(B). where k is the Boltzmann constant, T is the absolute temperature, q is the charge of an electron, I(C) is the collector current, I(B) is the base current, Beta(N) is the current gain for normal operation, and Beta(I) is the current gain for inverse operation. For I(C) over I(B) less than Beta (N), equation (1) is simplified to V(CESAT) = k . T over q 1n 1[+ 1 over Beta(1)(1 + I(C) over I(B)
