The access system provides relatively narrow slot 18 in a diskette drive of the type disclosed in the IBM Technical Disclosure Bulletin publication of March 1978, pages 4066-4068 for receiving a magnetic diskette 20 of the type disclosed in U.S. Patent 3,668,658. A relatively broad finger opening 22 is in communication with narrow slot 18, by means of which the diskette may be moved manually into and out of the diskette drive. Double offset lever 24 is swingable into opening 22 into its full line position of Fig. 1 for both blocking slot 18 and also for causing a rotatable drive spindle of the drive to engage the magnetic disk of diskette 20 for driving the disk.
