Concept Search - What can I type?
For a concept search, you can enter phrases, sentences, or full paragraphs in English. For example, copy and paste the abstract of a patent application or paragraphs from an article.
Concept search eliminates the need for complex Boolean syntax to inform retrieval. Our Semantic Gist engine uses advanced cognitive semantic analysis to extract the meaning of data. This reduces the chances of missing valuable information, that may result from traditional keyword searching.

Rotary Head Tape Device
Fig. 1 is a cross-sectional view of an assembly employed to transduce data
to and from a strip of magnetic tape. Figure 2 is an isometric view of a portion of
the assembly shown in Fig. 1.
The assembly comprises a rotatable drum 10 which has a circumferentially
disposed recess 11 with rectangular cross-section for receiving a section of
magnetic tape 12 that is disposed in the recess in 180 degrees wrap relationship
to the drum.
The section of the tape 12 is held stationary during reading and writing while
the drum 10 is rotated by a belt 13, for example. Rotation of the drum relative to
the stationary tape creates an air bearing between the bottom of the recess and
the adjacent surface of the tape. The recess 11 is formed relative to the width of
the tape to cause the edges of the tape to be maintained equidistant from the
parallel sides 15, 16 of the recess and effectively form a stationary section of a
semi-circular surface upon which data may be recorded in lengthwise parallel
tracks by means of a transducer 17.
The transducer 17, as shown, is mounted for rotation with the drum 10 and is
positioned axially thereof to select one of the parallel tracks. The magnetic
transducer is mounted in a head bar 18 which rotates with the drum and is
positionable axially by means of an actuator 20, whose function is to position the
transducer 17 to a track location defined by an address signal supplied to the
actuator 20. The head bar 18 is attached...
