A detector for sensing trace amounts of oxygen in an anaerobic chamber includes a film of polypyrrole in the neutral form. The transparent yellow polypyrrole film reacts with trace amounts of oxygen to form a blue-black oxidized film. A one cm/2/ film 0.1 Mu thick will detect 10 ppm oxygen within 1-2 seconds.
