Photoconduction in silicon and other semiconductor integrated circuit devices can result in undesired electrical leakage paths being created within such devices. This problem is particularly acute when such devices are to be employed in bright light conditions, for example, in a liquid crystal or electrochromic projection display in which display electrodes are formed on a silicon substrate.
