In superconducting chips comprising Josephson tunnelling devices, it is highly desirable to place the circuits in such a way that, for at least one of the probably most critical dataflow paths, the consecutive logic stages are successively arranged as closely to one another as possible. The path thus obtained is called an "optimized main critical" (OMC) dataflow path. Such a path will be a relatively direct and non-circuitous one.
