Experience with the type ball, daisy wheel, and print cup in impact printers and typewriters has shown that the human factors involved with installing/removing a print element are highly significant to the success or failure of these critical parts of the printer. In printer equipment where fonts are interchangeable, a large portion of an operator's interaction with the printer will be in changing print elements; therefore, careful consideration of the mechanism utilized to retain the print element is significant.
