Paper Gate and Detack System

This article relates to means for minimizing bounce when a "detack" finger is moved into position against a photoconductor drum in an electrophotographic copy machine. The finger is used to mechanically intercept the leading edge of copy paper and strip the paper away from the drum in order to guide the leading edge toward the fuser. Related disclosures include U.S. Patent 4,060,230 which describes an embossing gate roller for use with the detack finger and IBM Technical Disclosure Bulletin 19, 1595 (October 1976) which describes means for minimizing scarring of the drum surface when the detack finger is brought into contact with it.
