Sliding electrical contacts are required for applications where it is desired to pass electrical energy into or from rotating or reciprocating gears. One such example is the rotary switch disclosed in IBM Technical Disclosure Bulletin 21, 3940 (March 1979). To maintain good electrical contact over a long wear life, the sliding contact materials are critical.
