When an FET, for example, a MESFET, is being used as a load device or a current source in a circuit, it is important that the FET drain current be held to a desired value despite processing variations that affect FET characteristics from chip to chip. The FET drain current can be regulated to a desired value by providing an on-chip feedback-type voltage regulator to supply gate voltage to the load FETs on the same chip.
