Abstract

In general, conventional digitizers consist of a glass tablet, a stylus and control electronics. The tablet provides a means to generate a linear voltage gradient along the axis so that the signal amplitude at any point of the surface is proportional to the distance of the given point from a predetermined origin. The stylus functions to pick up the position signal, while the electronics drives the tablet and converts the signal from analog to digital form. A design which represents a simple accurate tablet structure is illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2.
