The figure illustrates a compound spring aiding and lifting and/or latching the slidable bin 1. Bin 1 is meant to contain a supply of paper and is mounted in a guide 2 in slots 3, as shown. The box 1 may be elevated to the uppermost position for loading or removal of paper and then lowered to a latched downward position, as illustrated by the dashed lines, during use of the paper. A compound spring 4 aids in raising the box 1 and provides a biasing force tending to force box 1 into a latching position in the bottom of groove 3, as will now be described.
