Position Locating Tether for Programmable Manipulators

A position-locating tether is described which consists of a gripping block 1 fastened to a flexible cord or connector 2 that is fastened to a sensor 3 inside a locating block or assembly fixture 4. The sensor 3 is able to detect a strain or tension on the cord 2 and transmit this as a signal to the controlling computer. The gripping block 1 is positioned in a pick-up area known to the controlling computer.
