Data entry to a modern data processing system by a human operator is usually handled via a conventional typewriter-like keyboard. This type of entry is usually paced by the typing capability of the operator in words per minute. In the production of the conventional electric typewriter keyboard, many plastic and metallic parts are involved, as well as are circuit contacts and logic for each key position.
