Spring tension is adjusted in assembling a wrap-down spring used for applying return force to a solenoid-operated gate. Figs. 1A and 1B show top and side views of a wrap-down spring 1 positioned on the pivot shaft 2 of a two-position gate. The gate 3 is designed to allow movement of the spring arm beyond its working plane in order to preload the spring to the required tension.
