For the manufacture of thin-film magnetic heads, during which the geometric contours of the magnet yoke are etched out of a continuous nickel-iron alloy film in photolithographic steps, the composition of the nickel-iron alloy must be accurately adhered to, in order to ensure that the magnetic heads function satisfactorily. In such cases, the surface area to be etched is very large in relation to the part not to be etched.
