The purge of a logic control table (LCT) often requires a great many machine cycles which slow down the normal machine operation. This is particularly true when the table serves as a shared facility because while purging the table, all the requests to use the table must be temporarily rejected. The purge of a LCT is often required when the mode of operation is changed or when an error condition is detected. This article presents two methods which can cut down the length of time to perform LCT purge and so improve machine efficiency.
