Excessive computer time can be consumed when assembling a large program if only a small section of the program is allowed to change. The assembly of the entire program not only takes more computer time and costs more than doing a lesser amount, but reassembling the entire program can result in unexpected changes to be introduced in the section of code not being changed. Changes cause extra "debug" time.
