This article describes a machine-assisted method for changing type fonts in the processing of text on a page-oriented keyboard-operated and coded output display device/surface such as a typewriter and the like. he method steps comprise: (1) creating one or more page masks with font-identifiers positionally encoded therein; (2) formatting a text character sequence and embedding font change characters; and (3) modifying the formatted character sequence upon encountering an embedded change character by repeatedly modulating the sequence through each page mask and associated font-generated element (type ball) in turn. Thus, the automatic method is extendable for whole pages rather than being limited to specialized display formulas only.
