In track-following disk files of the type in which one set of heads is permanently associated with one set of disks, servo tracks have been written during manufacture by positioning the heads at successive track positions by an external pusher mechanism acting on the movable head/ actuator assembly. The fact that the pusher is physically in contact with the actuator has led to vibration problems and faulty servo track writing.
