Synchronized Saw Tooth Generator
The circuit shown in the figure converts regularly occurring pulses, e.g.,
horizontal line synch pulses for a CRT, to a saw-tooth waveform exactly
synchronized to the pulses.
The input pulse train is supplied to input terminal 1 and through diode D1 to
the base of transistor T(4). Transistors T(4), T(7), diode D2 and transistor T(3)
are connected as a switch to be activated by the input pulses. Transistor T(8)
and resistors R(6), R(7) and R(3) provide a threshold voltage for the switch. In
operation, current is drawn through transistors T(7) and T(3) in the absence of
input pulses at terminal 1 and through T(4) and T(3) when input pulses are
present. Transistors T(1) and T(3) apportion the current provided by transistor T
in accordance with the voltage level applied to the base of transistor T(1).
