This graphics terminal provides an all-points-addressable graphics display and includes one or more random-access memory planes wherein each memory plane contains one bit for each point or dot on the graphics display screen. A single memory plane is used for black and white graphics and plural memory planes are used for color graphics. The terminal features a novel and relatively inexpensive hardware address translator for translating user application program coordinate values into the proper image memory plane addresses.
