Concept Search - What can I type?
For a concept search, you can enter phrases, sentences, or full paragraphs in English. For example, copy and paste the abstract of a patent application or paragraphs from an article.

Bipolar Selector Functions
The circuit shown in Fig. 1 performs a two-way data selection and gives a
single bit of data at the circuit output. The logical function performed by the
circuit is shown beneath this circuit.
A two-way select is shown. However, three-way, four-way, etc., select
functions can be fabricated by adding the equivalent of R1, R2, T1 and T2 to the
two-way circuit. These elements would be dotted at the base of T5 of Fig. 1.
The two-way select function shown in Fig. 1 requires five transistors and six
resistors. This is equivalent to about two NAND gates. However, the function
requires five NAND gates if it is performed with logic blocks. The simplest
implementation with NAND gates requires three logic blocks. Thus, an area
savings of between 50% and 150% is achievable with the circuit described.
The circuit can also perform the exclusive OR function. This is accomplished
by connecting inputs Sel A and Data B1 together and inputs Data A1 and Sel B
together (Fig. 2).
This circuit has a number of interesting features. It performs the select
function in a small area. The function can be extended for wider selectors (three-
way, four-way, etc.). The exclusive OR function can be performed with the same
circuit with a minor wiring change at the input. Also, power is lower than in the
equivalent implementation with NAND gates.
