Abstract

Exposed permalloy (Ni 0.80 Fe 0.20) poletips in thin film inductive recording heads can corrode in high humidity ambients, thereby degrading the magnetic performance of the devices. Poletip corrosion can be greatly reduced by proper cleaning and passivation treatments.
