Odd Weight Error Correcting Code for 32 Data Bits and 13 Check Bits

An error checking code (ECC) using 13 check bits with 32 data bits corrects all single errors, detects all double errors, and detects all errors in 5 groups of 9 bits each. The code is particularly useful with storage chips that have a 9-bit data bus which is a common storage unit because it stores an 8-bit data byte and a parity bit. Multiple errors often occur in the same storage chip and may cause the failure of a complete chip.
