In multiprocessing systems, physical disablement of a processor does not provide global serialization as it does in a uniprocessing system. Because of this, functions which are serially reusable in a uniprocessor must be capable of executing simultaneously on more than one processor; this is one characteristic of reentrant modules. This article presents a technique whereby automatic data areas of the proper size can always be provided, even as a module's size requirements change from version to version.
