Abstract

As illustrated in Fig. 1, a character belt or band 1 is often employed. It may carry letters or numerals either on its face or on the reverse side in raised profile for impacting by hammer in a printer having paper and ribbon means (not shown). If band 1 is made of magnetic material, a simplified drive not using cog wheel pulleys or friction drive pinch rollers may be employed.
