Electrostatic Discharge Monitor

This monitor provides information needed to evaluate electrostatic discharge (ESD) events (severity and time of occurrence) in a computer environment. The device (see block diagram) is used with a current probe to sense high frequency currents which exist in a machine cable or structural member during an ESD event. The probe can be a commercial clamp-on probe, or hand-made with C-cores and permanently attached. The microprocessor records amplitude, time and date of events, and outputs this data with a thermal printer.
