An optical fiber connector is described which includes a built-in magnifying lens for enabling the user to observe the joining of the optical fibers inside the connector. This enables the user to make a more accurate connection. It enables the user to observe the presence of undesired dirt particles and minimizes the danger of crushing the two fiber ends when they are pushed together within the connector. Thus, fiber joints of greater integrity are obtained.
