Fuser Exit Paper Guide
A guide plate in the output paper path from fuser rollers is configured to
provide peeling for the backup roll, static discharge of the copy sheets, and
thermal protection for the exit switch.
The exit guide assembly is shown in exploded view in Fig. 1 and in
assembled form in a side, sectioned view associated with hot roll fuser roller 10
and back-up fuser roller 11 in Fig. 2. Guide plate 15 is attached to tie bar 16 as
by alignment of holes, such as 17 and 18, with suitable attaching means for
retaining in the position shown in Fig. 2. When thus attached, beveled edge 19
on guide 15 is in proximity to the surface of back-up roll 11 to provide peeling
action and to prevent copy sheets following the paper path from wrapping around
roller 11. Preferably, guide 15 is of a conducting material, such as nonanodized
aluminum, and tie bar 16 provides grounding, such as by being constructed of
steel. This provides a ground plane through curved surface 20 to discharge
static charges on copy sheets resulting from the copy process or fusing process.
Exit switch 25 attaches to bracket 26 and thus to tie bar 16 so as to be below
the paper path, with the sensing arm intercepting the paper path, but with thermal
shielding of switch 25 by guide 15. Roller 30 is powered by shaft 31 to augment
paper feeding, particularly in conjunction with idler roller 35 on upper frame
