Record storage apparatus may have a servo position for read/write transducers such that the actuator (not shown) faithfully follows a track center line for optimum transducing. Some record storage devices employ so-called sector servoing wherein servo signals are interleaved with data signals. The drawing shows a typical sector servo signal having a component A and E bracketing a track center line. Well-known apparatus reads the signals A and B and, depending upon the ratio of the signal A with respect to the signal B, the control circuits (not shown) adjust the position of the transducer (not shown) toward the track center line in accordance with one of a variety of track following algorithms.
