A method is described to determine the number of diskettes necessary for backing up the IBM Personal Computer (PC) 3270 Emulation Program with any diskette type on any PC model. In accordance with this new method, the SETUP program calculates the number of diskettes necessary for the back-up procedure by issuing the DOS Get-Disk-Free-Space function call. The total bytes on the destination drive are compared with the total bytes on the source drive to determine the number of diskettes needed. Depending on the number of back-up diskettes, a different set of menus is displayed to guide the user through the steps to copy the IBM PC 3270 Emulation Program. This provides a method that can be compatible with any diskette type for copying the original program diskettes(s) of the product to any number of back-up diskettes.
