A method is described to provide a word processing package the ability to delete, retain, and undo delete an infinite (unknown) number of non-text objects at random and maintain group relationships for non- text objects which are considered one entity but are kept internally within a composite document as several non-text objects. The term "non-text object" refers to a collection of data which can contain such things as voice data, images, business graphs, drawings, data tables, format tables, and so on. The term "composite document" refers to a file that contains both text records and non-text objects. In addition, non-text objects which have related non-text objects must not be deleted from within a composite document unless "the whole group" of related non-text objects can be deleted.
